ARGENTINA APPROVALS

1 – ELECTRICAL SAFETY CERTIFICATION

Resolution 508/2015 of the Commerce Department requires that any low voltage electrical equipment that is marketed in the Argentine territory must be certified to meet the essential electrical safety requirements.

It is understood by equipment of low tenure to all those artifacts or electrical materials with nominal voltage of up to one thousand volts (1,000 V) in alternating current and up to one thousand five hundred volts (1500 V) in direct current.

Without this certification it is practically impossible to import an electric product to Argentina, since the certificate of electrical security is a customs requirement.

2 – GAS PRODUCTS AND ACCESSORIES

The certification of GAS products and accessories in Argentina is regulated according to resolution 138/95 of ENARGAS (national regulator of GAS). This resolution establishes the technical standards that the following products must comply with:

• Gas appliances (stoves, boilers, heaters, ovens, etc.),
• Gas fittings (valves, meters, regulators, pipes, etc.).

3 – TOYS CERTIFICATION

Resolution 163/2005 requires that all toys that are marketed in Argentina must have certification of their constructive characteristics and design, as well as comply with resolutions 583/2008 for Safety and 2/2001 for Phthalates

These products will be subjected to various physical, toxicological, acoustic, flammability, release of small parts, and electrical safety tests, among others.

4 – TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT

Through Resolution SC 729/80, the Argentine government established the obligation to homologate all telecommunication equipment that connects to the public telephone network or uses the radio spectrum (Bluetooth, WiFi devices, RFID, GSM / WCDMA cellular phones, etc.).

5 – LED TECHNOLOGY

Mandatory certification, which can be applied by manufacturers, importers and distributors, and applies not only to LED lamps, but also to connectors and control devices for LED lamps.

6- ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The Argentine government has established a series of specific standards and regulations, to ensure the energy efficiency compliance.

Resolution No. 35/2005 of the former Secretariat of Industry, Commerce and Mining (SICyM) for the labeling of energy efficiency of refrigerators, freezers and their combinations for domestic use.

Resolution 319/1999 for the labeling of energy efficiency of incandescent and fluorescent lamps of various types.

Resolution 859/2008 for the labeling of energy efficiency of domestic air conditioning of up to 10.5 kw.

Resolution 333 and 334 labeling of energy efficiency of washing machines.

7 – PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

The government entity that regulates this type of certification is National Directorate of Internal Commerce. This body requires certification for any personal protective equipment and applies to manufacturers, importers and distributors, through resolution No. 896/1999
